We are looking at a house that has a gas fireplace and the flue is not open (it’s capped). Where is everything going then? Is that a danger to have carbon monoxide put off potentially? What should the seller do to ensure a safe gas fireplace?

Hi Janet. Michele is correct. A level 2 inspection should be performed, at that time we can give you answers to each of your questions. Give us call on Monday and we would be happy to get you scheduled.

Contact Fluesbrothers and have them do a proper level 2 inspection it is a requirement to sell a home. They will then be able to give you recommendations based on that. They are CSIA certified sweeps. Go to www.CSIA.org for more info.
