Best time of year to mine.

The fire was in the museum and gift shop, it doesn't affect the quarry or campground

Oh no! I'm trying to make plans for my vacation next year so hopefully it will be open. New York then North Carolina for emeralds!

The mine was open and operational in July 2018 when we visited. It was a scorcher!!! You are out in the open, more of a quarry than a mine. Be prepared for the elements! Wear hiking boots. They were still building the new barn, but they have a gift shop that was open and completely operational. It was a great trip! I'd vote may/June for best time of year to book.

Fall or spring so its not to hot but they did have a fire recently in the last month so i dont k ow if they are open yet it burnt the entire building from my understanding
