This is my all-time favorite place to camp. We have so much fun. Very clean, very well kept ,nice clientele. The workers are so friendly and accommodating. I highly, highly recommend this campsite.

Absolute MAGIC! Just go and don’t ask questions! Beautiful, fun, inexpensive and some of the friendliest people that we’ve ever met. We’re already booked for next year!

Amazing experience! The space is clean the staff are very competent and welcoming. The safety is carefully planned and it is all well organized. It costs a bit more but for a 1 day dig for novices it is very good!

This was a family trip for spring break. WE LOVED IT. My child is a outdoorsy loves collecting rocks type. We spent the whole day there. The staff were amazing. It almost didn't happen due to snow but it melted enough by noon to let us in. Patience is important but if you spent the day there banging and digging you'll find plenty of small stuff. We plan on coming back with better tools. A hammer and chisel is great but the standards they supply is just enough to get a feel. This is a great place for a day trip especially if you are into this type of thing. You will find something and those more dedicated will find even more. Worse case if you can't d the mining yourself the sluice bag thing is still fun.

Can you go into the mine if so can you find things and keep them

The mine isn't Underground, as I thought it was. It's all outside. More like a quarry. Full of rocks and boulders, and I wasn't prepared. In the hot sun, and pounding on the Rocks is hard work and very hot. Well worth it, but we're hiking shoes or boots,. Next time I will bring my own tools as I found the Hammers were not big enough to make much progress. I also plan to bring a tarp for shade, and lots of sunscreen and water. You can work there all day as many people do under their own tarps. And you get to keep whatever you find. Just be prepared and you'll have a great time. Well worth it.

What are the prices to enter the diamond mine? And what are the season's you "should" be available?

Kimmy E. | May 12, 2018
Tracy Gilmore | May 13, 2018

Price for H was $12 last year, but due to a major fire that destroyed the main building, it may be higher this year. Go to Ace- its cheaper and you'll get more. Both places open April 1 thru Oct 31. Also, Ace is only 5 mins from Herkimer

You are only allowed to mine if you are camping currently. I did last week and it was so worth it! It is still 12 or 13 dollars per person to mine.

If you stay at the campground is the admission included in lodging or do you have to pay separately to go mining?

Erik Betancourt | May 11, 2020
Dave Peatfield | May 12, 2020

It is separate, but you are able to come and go all day long. IE go back to camp for lunch or such. We stayed at the campground which was very nice and drove across the street, only because we had buckets, hammers, chisel's, sifters. You can rent tools on site but the hammers are 3 lb and for chisel work I prefer my 5 lb sledge. The site is directly across the street from the campground and an easy walk. Just watch the traffic the speed limit is 50 mph in this stretch.
