We went kayaking out the back dock of Robbie's and in the mangroves when it was too windy in the open waters. This worked fine for us novice paddlers.

I dont think it would be an issue. Though I'm sure they would warn you before you depart. That is if you look to Kayak on your own. They may opt out of tours with the kayak if the weather is too dangerous for beginners. Now about the Mangroves their is significant open water space in between these groves, and only some of them can actually be kayak accessible if you wanted to go inside of them.

That is the reason why we went there because it was crazy windy And once you get into mangoes S nice and calm highly recommended, Take your phone GPS causes huge you easily get lost

Never kayaked around Robbies. Depend on wind direction and speed. If you can get on leeward side of island should be calmer.
