I agree with Michael. A lot of guitars here are over $1000, I'd go with Guitar Center or a local shop that also has knowledgeable staff.
No. Go to a local used guitar shop for that. Even a Guotar Center as they have a used section. For a beginner, dont soend more than 200/300, if that. Carter is a very high end shop, with the highest quality.
My Dad bought me an American Stratocaster for my first guitar. Having a sweet axe definitely helped motivate me when I was young. The Carters' guitars are most likely going to be used. That said, you are more likely to find a guitar that will appreciate in value. Every guitar will be good or better than good, but don't shop here if you want cheap junk.
