The store has overhead, that is, the cost if doing business. So the inventory is donated, and that costs nothing, except it must be recieved by someone, in someplace. Someone to stay there to recieve and sell must be paid, and someplace to shop costs rent. Not to mention that the store is designed to generate revenue for the volunteer building program, which also has overhead. I was there this weekend, and the prices were fine IMHO.
Funds from sale are used to build or remodel homes for homeless. Some items are very reasonable and others are not. Also, they are usually high end furniture items that are above yard sale prices. The stores are in several states and may be using a price guide that reflects a higher resale.
