I purchased a Precedent sofa recently. I assume this is part of Sherrill Furniture. The sofa back cushions and toss pillows have an odor. I have an Ethan Sofa. Can you discuss what could be causing this ?

I am not sure. I am an upholsterer at Sherrill and have been for 14 yrs. I want to say its possibly the scotchguard put on the material to protect it. Do you have the receipt. I suggest taking the pillow backs and throw pillows down to precedent furniture and let them see them first hand if you live in the area. In answer to Local Guide's question, the fabric is Affinity Hearthstone 30295. I had to remove the toss pillows from the room because the odor is much more intense from them. They are stuffed with some kind of feathers.
