Hi Sammy: I see you live in Charlotte. Please come visit our store and one of our firearm experts will be able to advise you on the best firearm for your situation. Thank you and we look forward to meeting you in person!
I'd first ask yourself what you want to do with it. Different firearms are made to meet different needs and choosing right type of gun is even more important than quality and price. You'll want to talk with people and do some research to develop a shortlist of guns that will meet your needs. Once you have that I would strongly recommend trying out those guns at a range by either renting or borrowing them. You may end up revising your list based on your experiences. Rushing the process may result in you buying a gun that doesn't do what you need, is excessive (and expensive) relative to your needs, and/or you just plain don't like.
Go to the Hyatts gun store, they'll point you in the right direction. First apply for your permit the the Sheriff's office
You can't go wrong with a smith & wesson m & p series pistol. The full size, for range use or home defense, the compact for conceal carry or range use or the shield for every day conceal carry. Depends on what you are going to use it for.
