In NYC you must sign up at the Men's Shelter Intake Center on E. 31st. Street and 1 Ave. Right next door to Bellevue Hospital. Make sure you have what documents or identity cards needed to process you. You will be ask a set of questions to which after you will be given further information on where you are to go next. Note: if you attempt to go to a shelter before going here, that shelter will tell you to first go to the Intake Center for Men in order to get processed, if you have a referral or know of a bed open at your desired shelter, you can let the intake center staff or the next shelter you are placed in of your preferred shelter. Just something I wish I knew before going into it, hopefully it will help you get what you need faster.
