Need to make appointment to renew drivers license

I need to renew my driver’s license. I am over 80 and have my Doctor’s eye exam report with me. My birth date was 8/22 and my appointment is 10/7/20. This will make me late and have to pay a late penalty. Is there a tax office Appt. open where I can not be late?
