All large cities that have water front have a rat “problem”. Baltimore’s trouble is since There is no dirt for the rats to burrow, they run down the alleys and sidewalks. I’ve lived lots of places. Lots of cities. Rats here are average, but it’s compact. The filth adds to the vibe. Even the nicest neighborhoods are run down in comparison to a successful city.

It appears that major presence of rats are in the major city populated areas where properties have more rentals and transients. I am not the professional who count the rat population but home equity owners tend to take care of their property
