This would be an okay take out point from the bridge downtown, but if you launch here, the next access is at Angler's Park which is less than a mile downstream, and then at the Milton Boat landing, which is about 6 miles of muddy slow flowing nothing. Unfortunately, not the greatest section of the Dan River to paddle.
If you want to park here and tote canoe in river I'm sure you can because you are allowed in the river. There is a landing not far from the park. Go up ramp from 29 and go in opposite direction from park. Come to stop sign and take a right, follow signs to ramp. Plenty of parking, restrooms and picnic tables!
Other parks in town allow boat access, although I don't see any for this park. When we took the Riverwalk, some parts looked shallow enough to walk across and not get very wet.
