All of the above suggestions are correct although I would definitely recommend filling out the application from your own computer as this will save you quite a bit of time in the dmv itself. I would also recommend getting a "Real" drivers license as you will be required to do it anyway by 2020. The dmv website will tell you which documents you will need to bring with you and the fee is the same.
