If there is active snowfall you will need chains. Only one section of the road is fairly windy and steep with the majority of the climb being gradual.
I would say pending weather that day. The day we went was about 2 days after a winter storm, but they had time to really clean the roads well and any car would have made it.
Depends on weather.. The base is 9600 feet. The roads are cleared and maintained well, but I would recommend 4 wheel drive on a snowy day. If it is clear - an accord could make it no problem.
Last night it snowed and stopped snowing at about 10 am. My Toyota Sienna did not have chains and I was able to drive around without them. They do a fantastic job on the roads.
Thank you guyss
