Probably because home Depot is a chain store and can buy it in bulk at a cheaper price. Let's hope we get a home Depot in Humboldt county!!!
Some factors could be proximity and sheer numbers. For those of us south of Eureka, Home Depot is 100+ mile adventure one way. Home Depot has 2000 stores; i think Pierson's has at least 3 orders of magnitude fewer stores. Prices are naturally better with more stores.

OSB from Home Depot may contain ammonias which offgas, many people are offended by ammonia smell.
