Some customers in parts of Hamden may be experiencing temporarily discolored water as a result of a recent main break on Armory Street. We have dispatched crews to perform flushing activities to help clear the water. If you have discolored water, please run a cold water faucet located at the highest point in the house (for example, a second floor bathtub) for 5 to 10 minutes to clear out internal plumbing. Discolored water comes from naturally occurring minerals in the pipes that are stirred up following activity that has disturbed the direction or rate of flow in the water main. We recommend customers wait until the water clears before drinking it and washing laundry. The discolored water is temporary and is expected clear overnight.
