You have to go quite a ways by foot, but about a 3 minute car ride down the street. We did see a bike rack down there and lots of people rode those to the beach.
You need buy a town beach non-resident beach sticker to park at any offical town beach in summer...beach office on Shore road/6a across from Christian Union church...not expensive well eorth the freedom of total access by car access... more than 5 beautifull town beaches, Coast Guard, Cold Storage, Head of the Meadow, Longnook, or the amazing Corn Hill... lots of hidden entries to smaller beaches.. .some beaches with 10 foot town affords at high tide.
