There's a handyman service in my area that's always advertising that his company does electrical work. He himself is not a licensed electrical contracting co.,he claims he has a licensed electrician that works for him..is this a red flag

Ask for the license number

State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors | Sep 19, 2021

Even if the license is reciprocated from another state, the individual wishing to perform electrical work here in NC will still have to apply for and obtain a license number from our Board. Always ask for the license number because ALL those performing ANY type of electrical work in North Carolina must obtain a license from us and will have a license number with our Board. (FYI, this is also true for other contracting boards in NC such as the Plumbing and Heating Board.)

What if the license is reciprocated from VA. How do i check who holds the license then?
