Depends on how well behaved your dog is for starters. Personally, my bit would be to leave my dog at home when i go to the hardware store. Same thing applies to small children.

Well as a matter of fact they are pet friendly
I have seen dogs inside in the owners cart.
The only place pets are allowed is PetSmart or similar. Service animals only are allowed most everywhere else.
