Does purchasing gas count against the discount for the Executive card? We were sold on getting the more exec card by virtue of that discount, but according to my calculations we'd have to spend $3000 at Costco to make up the difference.

I dont know about the gas to be honest. But yeah, you have to spend in a year a lot of money to cover the difference. If you go their website you'll see a table with the money you have to spend. The lower bound is For a cashback of $60, you need to spend $3000. The upper bound chacback of $1000, spending $50,040. Good luck.
