I would try and schedule it just incase a bunch of ppl were having a party on the same day. I do believe it's first come first serve as we have been at the park playing and someone was hanging out under the pavilion staking their claim w a small sign saying birthday party and had a few bags on each picnic bench. That lead me to believe they hadn't scheduled and were just trying to secure the area as theirs.

Although I don't have a specific answer i think when planning something as important as a birthday party it would be a good idea to call ahead just to confirm for yourself as well as check if they have any other scheduled events planned for that weekend that may impact your plans.
