Trust me, they always have a bunch of great pets just waiting for someone to take them home. May not have exactly what you're looking for the first visit, but keep trying. They get new dogs almost daily. Took me four trips to find my little girl! Worth the effort!
If they don't here are a couple of web sitex to look at Petfinder.com and Rescueme.org These sites list almost all of the shelters Stat by State. Do you know what Breed you want? A puppy is one thing but training and care are equally as important.
