How do I get it back
The Dept. of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles does not provide refunds. However, you are required to turn the tag in if it is no longer in use and cancelling insurance coverage. Once you turn the plate in, it will create a credit in our system for the Initial Registration fee, which would have been collected at the time of initial purchase, and the decal value would be credited if you reinstate or transfer the plate before the expiration date.
