I am considering buying a house jointly with a friend. I will not live in the house, but my friend will. I will also continue to own another house. Can she claim the homestead exemption on the jointly owned home even if own/claim elsewhere?

She can claim 50% homestead. Essentially she will receive half the benefits that the homestead grants.
