A little pricey but a once in a lifetime experience
I was here last summer and the place is huge and has lots of history so you should do the tour. The price is a little high but so is everything in that part of the state. They told me they were not open at night for liability issues as people could get hurt of they can't see where they are going. Also you learn lots of interesting things if you take the tour. I had a great time there and it is large. Plus they can actually tell you what things are and what they know about it if you take the time to visit and ask questions. Groupon does have deals but you have to buy 24 or 48 hours in advance.
Will be open and it is much bigger than someone's backyard. Keep in mind outs a historical sight and doesn't get much traffic unless you know where to look. I'm from out of state and found it easily
From experience I know you can't go at night there no way to even urban explore it and its very small. If youre interested in the history you need to take the tour... But its literally no bigger than a poor mans backyard. It is cool but not worth the price they charge for admission. My advice is if you cant find a Groupon or coupons, just skip it altogether. I was beyond disappointed even with paying half price with groupon.
I highlyrecommend calling for special holiday hours.
To call it a castle is a misnomer. It is a garden with many interesting stone works. How was he able to do it all by himself?
