I'm a LPN working in long term care. Are we permitted to accept open bottles of narcotics from residents or families? I'm not a pharmacist. Who knows what is really in that bottle.

Most or all meds come in a pharmacy filled container that describes color, shape, if there's a number or sign on a pill. When families or residents bring those kind of meds, I look for description, or call pharmacy. There are apps out there that allow you to take pic of drug and it's identified by the number on them.

I'm an an LPN who worked in long term care, and your instincts are right. We were never allowed to accept meditation from home, especially narcotics, because you don't know for sure what you are giving them.
