Really it can be a few hours or a day. lots of interactive exhibits and things to learn. Could keep kids attention for hours at a time.
To enjoy everything and to have to the time to do it, I would expect at least three quarters of the day to make it worth the effort going. Theres many hands on activities to do and depending on how many children you could be at one activity for fifteen to twenty minutes and in addition if your watching there shows in the planetarium then figure about a hour or so per show and there were having two shows a day when we went two weeks ago and they have there butterfly exhibit still going. So yes a good majority of the day got the enjoyment of the trip.
We have a membership from another ASTC science center and just went Sunday for the 1st time. My kids are 4 and 8. The 8 year old in particular has grown up visiting a center weekly as we homeschool. Some of the exhibits are found at many centers but are still enjoyable, just capturing their attention for less time. We would like to have had a little more time -- 2 hours, maybe 3.
Especially now at this time of year you could spend all day there with the planetarium shoes as well as butterflies being there.
