The three times i have been there I got seated right away. Never made a reservation. Just call ahead and see if there is a wait.
Each time I go, I set a reservation. It does get packed.

Its a good idea to reserve in advance, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. We failed to do so on one occasion and had to wait over an hour. But, strictly speaking, reservations are not required.

We found that making reservations works best. Didn't think we needed them when we first got there, but it was packed within a half hour of our arrival.
I really think it just depends on what time you plan on going there. If its going to be during busy hours a reservation would probably be best to be seated quickly. However, I didn't make a reservation and was seated almost immediately on the patio during dinner hours.
