It has a history dating back to early 1900s. One of the light house to direct ships for them not to hit the rocks around the lakes. Also, the place and the architecture is beautiful by itself. Check it out.
It a great place to visit to learn about Minnesota's history. Also the views from the top are awesome. I have been there 4 times love it. I say just go and take the guided tour.

I think the lighthouse speaks volumes of the technology and creativity that was used to help prevent further ship wrecks and lives safe. Although the lighthouse is not in use it has been preserved and the history about it was awesome.
It was built after a storm caused numerous ships to crash into the rocks. The history behind it is fascinating as well as the whole area is beautiful. They allow you to tour the houses where the lighthouse keepers stayed as well as going in to the lighthouse itself.
