Hopefully the red tide will be gone by then.
It's ok. U can swim but not as nice as the gulf. Fishing is good. I looked at the accommodations there and i wasn't impressed. New but small 2 bd rms and expensive. I stay at the Tortuga inn in holems beach. Big 2 bd rms and reasonable.
Nice beach, long shallow slope... fishing is best elsewhere.
Last time we were there in June the water was just as clear and more calm than the gulf. We saw a dolphin from the boardwalk. Lots of people swimming and floating. But yes check red tide first.
Thanks Jim! Yea we booked well in advance for the first week of September and it's extremely expensive plus resort fees and it All had to be paid up front! Now we are rethinking our trip since it's nasty down there. I don't want to be cooped up in my room because of dead fish and the odor! Also we paid full price and with the island being practically deserted lots of places are offering deals to stay.
