ernestos is a great place for food and drinks. You can always sit out on the patio or at the bar or table. You might want to make sure you're not there on mariachi night, it does get kind of loud but it's always fun in there

Yes. It's fairly quiet and there are some nice tables where you can talk. The food is very good. It's walk-up ordering but they bring your food to the table. Self serve chips and a nice salsa bar.
To me, it is a bit crowded for a first date, unless you want the buffer of many people around. Sometimes that is an advantage.
