We have a morning dove nesting in the eves of our roof near our porch. The eggs have not hatched yet. We plan on having our roof replaced in two weeks. Can we relocate the nest? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

It is illegal in most states esp CA to move a bird's nest. It takes 1 days to hatch eggs and 35 days for baby mourning doves to be able to fly away. Why not wait a bit to get this done? If you move nest now, the doves will abandon it and babies die. Its only 1.5 months delay for your roof replacement, so please try. So many odds stacked against birds already. Be kind to the birds that chose your house over all others as a safe haven to raise their young. That says a lot about you.

If the eggs have been there for a couple of weeks already, they may hatch soon and may fledge in time. You are not supposed to move the nest but if you do, don't move it far or the parents may lose track of it. I would call a wildlife rehabilitation center in your area for advice
