Petco doesn't sell cats and dogs bit a few have rescues that have adoption events. Shelters are overwhelmed with kittens right now. All are having reduced fess. KCPP, Great Plains SPCA, Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter, and Wayside just to name a few.

There are a lot of rescue and adoption organizations in Kansas City that can get you set up with a kitten. They run specials frequently. I'd go through them before ...i know some pet store have a partnership with some organizations but you'll have to do a little bit of research on your own to get the specifics.
