Do I have to buy the tickets before going to the day of the movie or can I just show up at the theater and buy them? I want to go see a movie that’s releasing January 16 but I have never gone to this theater before so Im a bit confused.

Yes you can, as Go said they might be sold out but if you get there early you're probably ok.
