There wasn't anyone in the center when i visited, but if you go on the road to pass the campground you will come across the entrance of several trails
There isn't any way to tell, and it can get crowded during the Summer, but there is a good chance that you can get a spot even if Figueroa is filled up. If you continue on Figueroa Rd. and turn left at the bottom of the mountain, there are two additional camps. Davy Brown and Nira camps are nicer than Figueroa by a long shot in my opinion. They still have the same fees, but each have creeks that usually flow year round and hiking trails around them. The parking is easier, too
There is no way to check. There is a camp host last time I went but no way to contact them. There are many sites up there. We usually go in the Winter months and are usually the only ones.
