The website says that the gates open at 11 AM on weekdays, but if you want to get a picnic table in the saddling area you should do so early AM. I am confused. How does this work? Louise

The gates open early for people to get a table, have breakfast etc. Then at 10 am everyone has to leave until the official gates open at 11 am

What’s the earliest you can get in to save a picnic table ??

Eileen Armet | Sep 13, 2018

People go early and claim a table by leaving there coolers.

This is an age old tradition at saratoga. Gates open at 7am for the "rush" where you can run in and claim any picnic table by placing a tablecloth or blanket over it. After finding your ideal table, take a walk around the track, get breakfast at the porch, or watch the morning workouts. At 10am everyone needs to leave and the gates reopen at 11am. If you want to bypass the 7am "rush", you can reserve a picnic table in the Miller Paddock Picnic area on Ticketmaster. These are nice provided that you can find one available that is right along g the paddock fence or at least something that is under a tree for shade, otherwise I dont think its any better than coming a 7am to pick your ideal table elsewhere. The 7am "rush" is a tradition and is something you should always do at least once just to carry on this tradition for another couple of generations.
