I believe, if I'm not mistaken, that they are there indefinitely until adopted. Unless they get sick, then other measures are taken
The Anti-Cruelty Society is an open door shelter so pets can stay for as long as necessary until they are adopted. Sometimes animals are sent out to stay with a foster family so they have a break from shelter living but they then return to be adopted. Some animals are sent to a rescue organization if that is the best place for the animal to be. Sometimes there is a special campaign for some of the harder to place animals like fee sponsored adoptions and extra social media or outreach that highlights specific animals to raise awareness.
