We have been emailing for over a week to adopt a dog and have had no response? I am very confused on how this can be so difficult? It is disheartening to think the dog is sitting in a kennel instead of in a home.

Please be patient with the employees & volunteers at WWR. There has been such a demand for dogs and puppies since Covid. Remember this is a non-profit and many people are on a volunteer basis. My suggestion: sign up to be a foster parent. Best of both worlds...you get first hand info on new dogs entering the facility and you can (for lack of better terms) "try before you buy". Please consider donating to this cause to increase the ability to save more dogs/cats and have more people on their payroll :)

It takes a little while after the approval letter and you reserve a dog until you receive an answer that you got the pet. The whole communication by email thing does make it harder then normal. And a lot of the pets are in the southern Illinois facility and need to be shipped up north.

Similar experience - we were on pins and needles for days after we first inquired about a dog; it seems as though they don't respond to adoption requests, or update online availability more than once per week. Most of their dogs are taken in to their location in southern Illinois and then transported north to Morton Grove on the following Tuesday, or the next one after that. Therefore it can take a couple weeks from the time you first email, to the day you bring them home. They don't share this info on their website, so hopefully this is helpful! We are on day 6 with our amazing puppy from Wright-Way, fingers crossed you find your new family member soon!

We had very slow response as well, but all worked out in the end. Love our little guy Ace!

I had much better luck calling them the first time
