And I beleive for the volume of people that can be in that store at any one time, having only one exit may pose a safety risk in the event of a crisis (Gd forbid).
They are too cheap (greedy)to hire enough help. Why pay another employee when they can just make the customer wait. If the stores were closer together since many customers have to walk or depend on buses they have very little competition, if you don't drive, you're stuck. I don't think it was a theft problem, thieves can leave by any door guarded or not especially since they don't tag items with sensors.
Yes, mornings are usually better, but it's still only 2 cash registers.
It's a popular store, kinda in between a 7-11 and a wallmart. But they are well stocked, have fresh produce, name brand bread for 99c, friendly staff. I try to go before 11 AM, it's not so bad.
