I live in SAN JOSE. Recently, the mobile phone and work phone received the fraudulent phone call from the consulate. The phone directly shows the phone number of the consulate. More than me, people around me receive it, whether it is family or colleagues

I’m in Seattle. Just got a similar call today. Based on the superb customer service, I was able to figure out it Must be scam.

No phone is hacked, it's just that criminals use the function of calling number change, which is easy for communication companies to do

You have no common sense! First, don’t forget that this is the United States. Which organization can call you in Chinese? Second, the consulate does not have any law enforcement powers, so they will not notify you of any legal issues or violations of the law in the mainland. They will only notify the U.S. police to coordinate the case. The U.S. police will only come to find someone instead of using it. phone. Third, if there is a problem with your passport, they will only inform you by mail at most, but basically there will be no. You go to the consulate for consultation.

We also received many of these calls in San Francisco.

Pamela Liang | Sep 10, 2018

I also received the same call from the consulate and then ran to our police station in Fremont. The police said it was a scam and many people have reported it. Because there is no property loss, they are not willing to file a case.

I am in Las Vegas. Last two weeks, I have received five calls that stated the call was from Chinese Counslate in Chinese with female voice and informed me that there was urgent document required my attention. I have got two calls this morning! Who is doing this and for what purpose? Money?

Larry Chung | Sep 10, 2018

I have also received multiple phone calls from the Chinese Consulate. Why is there no one to investigate these incidents?

Richard Li | Sep 10, 2019

I also received it, just that I was changing my passport, it was really scary. Don't give private information. What is even more frightening is that there must be a ghost inside, or how to know that I am changing my passport.

Bob Jones | Sep 10, 2019

I also received it and it was really beyond doubt.

Was the San Francisco consulate open during the epidemic? Is the opening time still 9:00am-2:30pm? Thanks 🙏

Do n’t report the consulate to this obvious fraud call. The San Francisco Consulate has already reminded in many places. And where does the Chinese consulate have law enforcement power in the U.S. territory, how can it investigate the fraud cases in the United States?

I have a phone call from San Francisco every day in the past week. I haven't answered it in the past few days. I received it today. I started with a computer recording, Chinese, and said that there are important notices. The manual service is then automatically transferred. The manual service asked me to sign the name and then help me check the notice. The notice said that I was restricted from entering China and asked if I knew a Chinese American named Li Haixia. She said that she was found in Beijing Customs in May, and one of them used my information. I heard this saying that I don't know. I said, "Do you really don't know? How can you give them information?" I was still skeptical at first, and I should know that it is scam call. It is. The scary thing is that their phone number, the query is really the number of the San Francisco Consulate. So the consulate should really check what is going on here!

Don’t be fooled like I was. Got a call from this number saying I have an important document to pick up in Chinese embassy. The person sounds a real thing and told me my passport was faked and carried by a women trying enter China then was caught. He even connected me with the fake Beijing police department. If you say the calling in number says ‘likely scam’ don’t answer regardless.

Thanks! I just got one and thought it was real. Yikes!

You can spoof any phone number in the United States. You can search online on how to do this and many websites offer the service. This number is being spoofed not by the Chinese Consulate. But by scammers. There is no way to block this currently except by using a phone spam filter from your wireless provider.

Qisong Lin | Sep 10, 2019

The phone number can be disguised, so what number is used by the fraudster who wants to use the number?

Theo Zhu | Sep 10, 2019

I also received such a call. I don't know if I am defrauding, but the Chinese Embassy is a Chinese territory. Using the name of the Chinese Consulate is to use Chinese sovereignty to defraud, and it is a big problem.

Runlong Zhao | Sep 10, 2019

got a scam call just the same as xiaoning described..
