A Southshore resident told my husband that homes there are not in a flood zone so don't require flood insurance. Is this true? If so, we'd be interested in hearing more! We currently live in old Apollo Beach.

I have flood insurance. Because at 10 feet above sea level a major hurricane can bring a storm surge and 10 inches of rain which may caus e flooding. For 5 or 6 hundred dollars a year you are protected from devastation
