Yes to all. Drive slow and enjoy the view.
There are a couple of spots you can get out and walk on the drive through. But if you go to the welcome center, there are a couple of trails, and a boardwalk. The people who work there are very helpful
The drive trail still allows for you to stop and get out. Do watch for potholes ! The trail has various points of interest described on the map/brochure you can get at the Visitor Center. One stop along the trail you drive has a restroom facility and a short walk to an observation tower plus a 5 mile loop trail. There are other hiking trails in the refuge. Get all the info you can by stopping at the Visitor Center first.
There are walking trails but at different locations than the driving loop. Yes. You can get out of the car along the dring loop; however with a young child you want to be very, very cautious. There are alligators. This is their natural habitat and their home.
