This is one of the best scenic drives in Florida and a "must see" for anyone passing through the area. The drive provides a beautiful and somewhat lengthy trip through a large swath of this incredible coastal estuary / marsh environments. The well maintained road is a little bumpy at times so plan on taking your time and enjoy looking at the many different types of birds and unique plant species that populate this area. This place is a treasure!

Its open everyday sunrise to sunset. There is a use fee and envelopes but no attendants so make sure you have some small bills.

Winter is the best time to go for birding, we have lots of visitors then. Now is much less crowded but your chances of seeing an alligator pick up and there are still a number of birds that live here all year long.
I spoke with someone today at the park. He said Google is not their website. Their website has the information. He said they are open everyday. Glad he cleared that up...he was kind of a smarty pants about it too. 😔😁
