I believe you can still park for free at the parking garage. Valet parking is a great service but it is not free.

The reason why the charge of the valet parking now is because if they didn't then they would have to get rid of people who have the jobs there for the service would be gone
You can freely park in either of the 2 large garages there on sight that lead directly into the hospital entrances.
