Yes! There will be a celebration from 10am - 2pm on Saturday, July 20th. The event is FREE to all and no registration is necessary. There will be open Observatory tours, science demonstrations, Apollo 11 archival footage, virtual reality, augmented reality, a photo booth, Apollo-era artifacts, 3D prints of the lunar surfaces, and for the kids: 5 different Moon-themed crafts, special story times, and face painting! There will also be food for purchase with the price of a meal being $5. At 1pm in the Community Room, there will be special effects paired with archival footage that will let you relive the Moon landing as it happened exactly 50 years before down to the minute! TL;DR: Yes! 10am-2pm at the Rancho Mirage Library and Observatory. Many events for all shades. FREE to all and NO registration! Inexpensive food for purchase.
