Why is it you can't even see their inventory without giving them your contact information? What if they don't have anything I like? Now I have to receive email solicitation from them for ever?

I think it's just so they have a way to reach you in case they get something in you may be interested in later on. You can always opt-out of receiving communication later on too if you don't like them contacting you.
