Your claim will not fail if you quit before your are old enough to claim. Social Security benefits are based on your highest 35 years of earnings. If you continue to working, you"ll reduce those zero years and drive up your benefit.

No, possibly, but if you get a minimum wage job for the last 2 years your retirement benifits your benifits will be lower. If you go to ssa.gov you can you the calculator that will tell you what the difference will be.
