It is hard for them to match server availability with customer demand. One day it will be empty at 5:00 a.m. and the next day there will be lots of customers at 5:00 a.m. The solution is to politely draw their attention to you presence or need.
You weren't the only one to have a crappy experience. Never will I eat there again even if its the last place on earth ...
