The only attraction would have been the harbor. The Pilgrims were looking for arable soil, lots of trees and clean, convenient sources of fresh water. Farming on Cape Cod has always been a challenging side-gig, whereas the Plymouth area is relatively good and Plymouth harbor is superior in several ways.

I guess, sandy environment plus lack of fresh water not allowed to have permanent settlement in those time.
