They do the briefing, but more importantly, perhaps you should talk to your son more if suicide prevention is at the top of your concerns.
It's a mandatory briefing that will be done actually many times that I can guarantee because I had to give many to my Soldier's new and old so your son will get it plenty. I do agree with Moonfire if suicide is a huge concern for your son and yourself this is something that you both need to tall about with his Chain of Command. It also seems weird that your son is so concerned about this briefing Instead of sharing with you everything he is learning, the other classes, what his daily duties are and especially of how beautiful the surroundings are. This must be very new to him and you. Tell him to hang in and he will be just fine if he listens, watches and does what he is instructed. I've been through it all and even have been a Drill Instructor. Keep your head up kid and mom. He should be more worried about bear country more instead of the duty station.
